The writer criticizes the point that Allah gives plenty to whom He wills and withholds from whom He wills. Perhaps he doesn't look around. Perhaps he doesn't see and observe that the distribution of wealth is not the same for all. The writer criticizes what exists not for why it is but rejects such a pattern around him.
Clearly a problem with observation skills.
